Bio

Athena Stevens is an Olivier Award-nominated actor, playwright, and author whose work delves into the intersections of human agency, resilience, and the systems that shape us. With a career that spans theatre, literature, and podcasting, Athena’s voice has become a powerful presence in the cultural dialogue around consequence and accountability. Her upcoming memoir, What's Done Cannot be Undone (HarperCollins, 2025), weaves a rich narrative from her personal journey, exploring themes of causation, justice, and interdependence against the backdrop of lifelong physical challenges resulting from medical malpractice. Set for release in June 2025, the memoir balances critical reflection with scientific and philosophical inquiry, encouraging readers to engage with a more nuanced understanding of responsibility.

In addition to her literary pursuits, Athena is the co-host of Neuroblast, a podcast with Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa, PhD, which investigates the dynamic relationships between neuroscience, creativity, and cultural biases. Together, they delve into how the mind perceives reality and confronts societal expectations, aiming to broaden perspectives on personal growth, adaptability, and interconnectedness.

Athena’s theatre work continues to challenge and expand the landscape, particularly through projects that dissect institutional and personal ethics. As a writer and performer, she has taken to the stage in pieces that explore complex emotional truths.

With a background that bridges the arts and academics, Athena frequently speaks internationally, addressing themes that resonate with critical thinkers, activists, and those drawn to the philosophy of human potential. She aspires to bring her voice and vision to global audiences, advocating for cultural dialogue that transcends simple narratives and engages with the realities of power and vulnerability. Athena’s ultimate aim is to craft work that endures, inviting readers and viewers alike to consider what it means to move through life with integrity and an unflinching eye on the choices we make.
